Here's the low down on this rifle. It's a great gun for the price however, the scope that's included is junk toss it in the trash and then go to walmart and buy the daisy 3 x 9 x 40 scope $28.00 Great deal. Second don't waste your time or money on BB's for this rifle, these no way you can get any scope sighted in or hit a target with the iron sights because the BB'S sing off and will not provide a consistent grouping. Only use pellets and you will find the scope easy to sight in and the rifle very accurate. Also this gun needs to be broken in at least 100 rounds this will loosen up the trigger and the pump action. I use croosman pointed pellets which are very accurate. I shoot a phone book at 25 yards with 10 pumps and penetrated 330 pages, very powerful. (this is not a toy gun and should not be used by minors without adult supervision) I seldom pump this gun more than 4-5 times and have taken squirrels and dove well over 30 yards or more. Over all a great rifle, just be sure to take my suggestions on the scope and BB's and save yourself a lot of frustrations that almost caused me to return the gun. I own a lot of Crosman products--and since the 1960's. Most are great. I have 66 years' experience shooting. This one, the Remington Airmaster 77 (by Crosman), is terrible. Cocking the action is hard and hurts the finger. The trigger pull is heavy, gritty, and creepy. Pumping beyond 7 pumps takes a lot of effort. I don't see how a young kid could do it to 10 or 12 pumps. Yes, it shoots faster than the competition, but I say it's not worth it. I returned this model and bought a Daisy 880 multi-pump, shooting at 625 fps or so. The Daisy is a smooth Rolls Royce, the Remington Airmaster is a Chevette. The Daisy is easy to pump 10 times, the trigger is 7 pounds (measured) but smooth and predictable, with no stacking. It's making 5-shot groups smaller than a penny at 20 yards. I believe that the basic design of the Daisy 880 is superior. Now, the Crosman does shoot about 150 ft/sec faster, so if that is the is the most important thing to you, buy the Remington Airmaster 77. I decided for the backyard the Daisy's 625 ft/sec is good enough for pests & plinking. I have owned this Air Rifle for a little over a year and still use it. I've owned two other Air Rifles: a Daisy, and a Chinese import (don't know the name or anything. It's in Chinese!!!) The other two have broken in less time. This one is still going strong. The included scope is trash. If you can manage to get it sighted in at all, a tiny bump will knock it out of zero. It's pretty accurate (2MOA) at 100 yards for me with crossman pellets. Haven't tried anything longer. Stopping power drops off pretty quick past 100 yards. But, then again, you'd want a.22 for those shots. This is probably the best Air Rifle for any price range. Buy this, you won't regret it. I purchased this to teach my 7 year old grandson how shoot. Using the open sites I was able to zero it in with 4 shots only pumping it 5 time. Haven't put the scope on it yet. As has been mentioned, it is pretty hard to pump. No way my grandson could ever do it. My grandson had to use two fingers to pull the trigger. It was pretty stiff for me, but I was able to get a nice tight group. There is no way in the world he could chock it by himself. After a few times, it was all I could do to pull the mechanism back myself. If I hadn't thrown the box away i would return it. When I got this gun, I was expecting to get a powerful SINGLE pneumatic pump action air gun that loads through the bolt action. It turns out it's a MULTI pneumatic pump, which means instead just chambering a BB or pellet and then pumping the action (the forearm grip is the action) one time. You have to pump the action out about 3 times just to get it to shoot at an average velocity. To get it to shoot at the maximum velocity of around 725 FPS, you have to pull the action out about 7 or 8 times. Which can get real annoying for somebody who isn't patient and is ready to fire their next shot. But if your patient, it's a really strong gun for that price. The scope is good as trash. But you can just as easily replace it. I used my Tasco Pronghorn on it and it worked out fine. I like the dovetail mount too, because it fits so many other different kinds of recievers. I used it to mount a scope to my Marlin Model 60. I do reccomend this for the avid squirrel hunter. It'll drop one at 60 yards easily when it's pumped about 8 times with a lead pellet.
